Wilma Jean Austin

November 27, 1943 — June 23, 2014

Wilma Wooley Austin, age 70, of Sherwood formerly of Woodlawn, went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 23, 2014 at her home. She was born November 27, 1943 in Woodlawn to the late William Edgar Wooley and Mildred Inez Lain Wooley. She was a 1961 graduate of Woodlawn High School. Mrs. Austin retired as a Collections Manager from Simmons First National Bank after 26 years of service. During that time she was a member of the Red Hat Club and the Simmons Classic Club. Mrs. Austin was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church of Sherwood and a former member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she was the Sunday School secretary and teacher for many years. Also, she was a member of the Friendship Ladies Auxiliary. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rupert Austin; son, Stephen Austin; sister, Nelda Pierce; and sister-in-law, Betty Nell Wooley. Mrs. Austin is survived by her son, Darren Austin and his wife, Alice of Sherwood; brothers, Kenneth Wooley and Lynn Wooley (Irene) of Woodlawn; sister, Joanne Dobbs (John) of Woodlawn; brother-in-law, Dennis Pierce; and three grandchildren, Holly, Justin, and Hayden Austin. Funeral service is Friday, June 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Woodlawn with Brother Jackie Richardson and Brother Robert Harris officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers are James Harris, Kevin Wooley, David Young, Jason Dobbs, Phillip Young, Travis Young and Chip Austin. Honorary Pallbearers are Justin Austin, Hayden Austin, Holly Austin, and David L. Harris. Memorials can made to Friendship Cemetery Fund (mail to: 750 Wooley Road; Rison, AR 71665). Funeral arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison. (870) 325-6216.
