William Vernon Reed

William Vernon Reed, age 80, of Calmer went to be with his Lord on April 22, 2024. He was born October 30, 1943 in Calmer to the late Daniel and Mary Reed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Reed and his sister Pauline Cross. Mr. Reed retired from the Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked as an Engineer. He was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, riding horses, motorcycles and working in his yard. His favorite times were spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Linda Kay Reed, his children, Donna Crutchfield and her husband Calvin, William Vernon Reed, Jr. and his wife Christy, Tina Smith and her husband Billy and Daniel Reed and his wife Patti, one brother Max Reed and his wife Ruth, 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
