William M. Horn

William “Bill” Horn, age 92, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022. He was born January 7, 1930 in Marion, Texas. He grew up the oldest of five brothers, as a youth he spent his time helping the family which included a lot of cotton picking. The family lived in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. He served in the United States Navy in the Korean War. In the Navy he found his love of boxing. Which he loved to always watch on TV if he could find a good match. He met a girl on Main Street in Pine Bluff named Mary Jane who stole his heart and the rest was history! They lived on a ranch in Wyoming when first married and returned to Pine Bluff where eventually Bill would work for the Arsenal as a pipe fitter until retirement. Bill was a Native American and a member of the Choctaw Apache Tribe of Ebarb in Zwolle, Louisiana. He enjoyed participating in Pow-Wows and was a very fine straight dancer. He and his wife Mary traveled doing craft shows which showcased his work as a silver smith including handmade jewelry and hers with pine needle baskets, corn shuck dolls, and beadwork. Bill had a love for music beyond most. He could also play most instruments he wanted. From harmonica, violin, guitar, mandolin, dobro, or sax. He loved a good “pickin” session. Bill loved fishing and was even famous for the 50 pound flathead he caught once out of the river and was featured on Channel 7 news. So this really was a “true” fishing story and it was “that big.”

Finally the greatest thing about Bill Horn was his faith. He was a long time member of Whiteville Missionary Baptist church. He was a godly example of a Christian man who loved his family and his friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Horn.

Survivors include one brother, George Horn of White Hall, one daughter, Marianne Horn of Sheridan, one son, Barry Horn of Pine Bluff, a granddaughter, Andrea Duncan of White Hall, and 4 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Brown Cemetery in Pine Bluff.
