William "Ray" Cockrell

William "Ray" Cockrell, age 82, of the Randall community, near Rison died Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Mr. Cockrell was born December 24, 1934 in Bastrop, Louisiana, to the late Dent and Billie Blackmon Cockrell. He was known to never shy away from hard work, having been a cattle farmer, owner of Rison Auto Sales and an employee of International Paper Company. Mr. Cockrell thanked God everyday for all that he had been able to accomplish in his lifetime. He was preceded in death by two sons, Scott Cockrell, Ricky Cockrell and twin sister, Fay Smith.

Mr. Cockrell is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bobbie Cockrell of Randall; daughter, Roxanne (Joe) Bradshaw of Randall; daughter-in-law, Debbie Cockrell of Rowell; three grandsons; one granddaughter; two great grandson; two great granddaughters and one brother, Dosher Cockrell of Bastrop, Louisiana.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 22, 2017 at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in the Randall community, near Rison with Brother Doney Blackerby officiating. A visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m., Friday at the cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
