Walter D. Miles

Walter D. Miles, age 76 of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at his home. He was born October 20, 1935 in Kingsland, a son of the late Floyd E. Miles and Annie Mae Hedges Miles. Mr. Miles was a graduate of Kingsland High School. He married Kathy Griffin on May 20, 1962. Mr. Miles served in the United States Navy. He retired from the United States Postal Service after thirty years as a city mail carrier in Pine Bluff. He was a member of Whiteville Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Miles enjoyed his country and gospel music, playing the guitar and singing. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack D. Miles, Thomas Miles; a sister, Virginia Sue Miles. Mr. Miles is survived by his wife, Kathy Griffin Miles of Pine Bluff; two sons and daughter-in-law, Barry Edward Miles and Stephanie Pruitt Miles, Brian David Miles, all of Fayetteville; one daughter and son-in-law, Deanna Lynn Miles English and Aaron English of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Bera Mae Vaughan of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Betty Jean Miles Hutchinson of Sacramento, California; four grandchildren, Joshua Caleb Miles, Joseph Stephen Miles, both of Fayetteville, Ashleigh Cheyenne English, Robert "Bo" Christopher English, both of Pine Bluff. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Whiteville Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Duane Cooper, Brother Mark Sikes and Brother LeRon Braswell officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 31, 2012 at Buie Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Jimmy Temple, Steve Hulse, John Howard, Fred Thresher and Larry Koonce. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Horn, Dennis Temple, Marvin Workman and Wayne Griffin.
