She worked in the field of education in Texas, Arkansas and Michigan for over 30 years, with a special interest in teaching younger children.  Her later years were devoted to helping teachers learn and apply educational software to their craft.

Always a devout Methodist, she was active in the Koinonia and Emmaus movements for about 25 years. Virginia and Glenn have been members of Christ Methodist Church in Sugar Land, Texas since 1990. There, she was active in the teaching ministries of the church since 1991, including the Stages (singles) Sunday School Class and Disciples Bible Study. She also was an active as a Stephen  Minister for several years.

Since 1992, Virginia and Glenn have been avid amateur genealogists. She made numerous trips to Georgia and nearby states and one trip to Scotland, where she did research in the National Archives of Scotland and in several libraries on the Isle of Skye and Isles of Harris and Lewis. She helped Glenn with the publication of a family history book and a family cookbook, typing each of these to a “camera ready” stage. Her principal families of interest were Bird, Kinnebrew, Kidd, Anderson and Tyler.

As a person, Virginia was known for her ready smile and helpful attitude. She loved to cook and was known in the family and by close friends for her delicious pancakes, chocolate fudge and chili. For many years, in Arkansas and Michigan, she and Glenn loved to square dance.  She also enjoyed helping children with craft projects at home, church and missions.

Virginia will be buried with a graveside service at the Pansy Cemetery, Pansy, Arkansas, Saturday evening at 4:00 p.m.  A Memorial service will be held later in Sugar Land, Texas.
