Virginia Bennings

October 23, 1927 — March 16, 2015

Virginia Bennings, 87, of Benton, died Monday, March 16, 2015, at Alcoa Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 23, 1927, in the Mt. Olive Community (Saline County), a daughter of the late Lonnie Graydon and Alice Virginia Ann Levillain Davis. She was reared and received her early education at Mt. Olive and then attended Bauxite High School. She married Robert L Bennings on September 1, 1943. Mrs. Bennings was a homemaker and a devout Christian who loved The Lord and her family. She was a member of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Her survivors include her son, Wendell J. Bennings of Hot Springs; daughter, Linda Wheeler of Jerusalem, Arkansas; brother, Donald D Davis (Cora Ellen) of Benton; sister, Shirley Gregory of Benton; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert L Bennings; son, Bobby Gerald Bennings; granddaughter, Sandra McCann; brothers, Brooks, Charles, Fred, Victor, Raymond, and Clyde Davis; and a sister, Nadine Timoneri. Visitation: Wednesday, March 18, 2015, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Buie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 19, 2015, 10:00 AM, in Buie Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Pastor Kenneth Click officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville.
