Virgil E. Rhoads

Virgil E. Rhoads, age 93 of White Hall, went to the Lord on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the White Hall Nursing Home. He was born December 15, 1915 in Kingsland, a son of the late Charlie Clinton Rhoads and Nannie Bell Rhoads. Mr. Rhoads was raised in Kingsland, Arkansas and toiled on a two mule farm. He retired from Central Moloney Transformer Company of Colt Industries with thirty five years of service as an inspector. He was a dedicated Father, Husband and Grandfather and was a member of First Methodist Church of Pine Bluff. Mr. Rhoads served throughout World War II as a Military Policeman escorting German Prisoners of War throughout the United States to various POW Camps. He led a very fruitful life and saw the world evolve from horse and buggies and plowing behind a mule, to men walking on the moon. He was marveled by the evolution of mankind and technology during his long life. Mr. Rhoads was predeceased by his beloved and dedicated wife of sixty years, Kathleen Love Rhoads; mother, Nanny Bell Rhoads, father, Charlie Clinton Rhoads; one sister, Mary Rhoads Hoy and husband Bert Hoy; three brothers, Noah Felton Rhodes, Charles Rhodes and Billy Rhoads all of Cleveland County.

Mr. Rhoads is survived by a son, Bert Rhoads of White Hall and his steadfast and loving daughter-in-law, Carolyn Lewis Rhoads; a beloved grandson, Bert Rhoads II of Little Rock; a brother, Eugene Rhoads and wife Maydene of Fordyce; two step grandsons, Tony Park of Sheridan, Todd Park ( Christie) of White Hall; four step great grandchildren; three nephews, Dusty Rhodes of Fordyce, Felton Rhodes of Little Rock and Marty Rhodes residing in North Carolina; four nieces, Mary Ann Grice and husband Virgil of Pine Bluff, Charlene Thomas and husband Searcy of Crossett, Kathy Bright of Little Rock, Connie Roberts and husband Charles of Rison; one sister-in-law, wife of Charles, Reba Rhodes of Kingsland.

Graveside services are 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Kingsland Cemetery with Reverend David Fleming officiating. Visitation is 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. The family and Virgil would like to express our gratitude to the Administration and Nurses of White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation, Trinity Village, Whispering Knoll, and Jefferson Regional Medical Center for the services provided during the last few years, they have truly been Angles of Mercy and provided first class care and quality services during his hours of need.
