Viola Moore Smith

May 22, 1942 — September 18, 2017

Viola Moore Smith, 75, of Bald Knob went home to be with the Lord September 18, 2017 at Unity Health in Searcy.  She was born May 22, 1942 at Bald Knob to the late Ernest Lee and Onilee Edwards Graham.
Mrs. Smith accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  She was a 1959 graduate of White County Training School going on to receive her undergrad from Arkansas Baptist College and her Master’s in Education from UALR.  She taught school for 29 years in Lee County, Arkansas and dedicated much of her time volunteering in various organizations including former dean of CWR District Congress / Association, Director General of CWR Congress Association, working tirelessly in the Consolidated Missionary Baptist State Convention, and most recently serving as Co-Director of the Bald Knob Senior Citizen Community Center.
She was a dedicated caregiver and loved her nieces and nephews dearly.  She never missed a birthday or anniversary of her nieces and nephews.  Most of all she was dedicated to Christ and her church where she has sung in numerous choirs over the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria Hoyle and Carol Jackson; and one brother, Leon Graham Sr.
She married Roderick Smith March 28, 1992 at Bald Knob, he survives her.  She is also survived by her mother in law, Florence Jones of Birmingham; five sister in laws, Patricia Graham of Bald Knob, Angela Harper of Birmingham, Beverly Parker (Quiness) of Atlanta, Rennie Love (Michael) of Atlanta, Shedrick Stewart (Franklin) of Fort Payne, Alabama; two brothers in law, Michael Kirkland of Birmingham and James Jackson (Gloria) of St. Louis; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at Sullivan Funeral Care in Kensett.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23 at Centennial Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Larry Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Bald Knob.
