Vernon Leslie Corley, age 90 of Murfreesboro, Tennessee but formerly of Sheridan, Arkansas, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017. A native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas he was the son of the late William L. and Ethel Gould Corley. Mr. Corley was a retired US Army veteran and a survivor of the 1950 Chosin Reservoir conflict in Korea and later became a member of the "Chosin Few", an organization of those survivors. He was a farmer in his post Army retirement years. He was a member of The Shepherd's Chapel in Gravette, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom Corley, Stanley Corley, Clarence "Sonny" Corley, Arthur Corley, William Corley, Bud Corley, Richard Smiley and his sisters, Inez Corley, Ethel Corley, Evelyn Corley Jackson, and Julia Smiley Pearson.
Mr. Corley is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen Beatrice Corley; son Richard Dean Corley, and his wife Lorrie of Boerne, Texas; daughter, Sherry Connors and her husband Kevin of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren Richard Devlin Corley and Jessica Corley both of Boerne, Texas, and Matthew Connors of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service for both Helen and Vernon will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Center Campground Cemetery in Sheridan.
