Vera Opal Hudson Lunsford

Vera Opal Hudson Lunsford, age 75 of Rison, passed away Friday, May 29, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. She was born February 6, 1934 in Rison, Arkansas to the late Louis Leroy and Bessie Mae Bowlin Hudson. On February 23, 1952 she married Troy Lunsford in Rison. Mrs. Lunsford was employed over 20 years with Cleveland County School District until she retired in 1998. She was a longtime member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Lunsford was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Wayne Lunsford in 1971; granddaughter, Lesley Janine Taylor; three sisters, Joyce Mae Lunsford, Margaret Ann Lunsford, Debbie Marie King; brother, Jimmy Fred Hudson Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Troy Lunsford of Rison; three daughters, Joyce Melinda (Doyle Edward) Taylor of Pine Bluff, Vickie Lynn (James Howell) Owen of Rison, Opal Ann Cooper of Rison; 8 grandchildren, Valerie Anastasia Taylor, Shawna Renee Morris, Joseph Marion (Miranda Denise) Tucker V, Guy Henry Franklin Taylor, Candis Carolina Taylor, Joshua Scott Murphree, Samantha Leighanna Madison Cooper, Matthew Troy Cooper; great grandson, Dylan Cole Morris; brother, Louis Malvin (Ester) Hudson of Monticello; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Calvin Terry and Brother Joe Stacks officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery near Rison. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers will be Steve Jacks, Jimmy Fred (Bo) Hudson Jr., William King, Butch Lunsford, Timmy Lunsford, Billy Lunsford. Her grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
