Vera Maurice Jones

Vera Maurice Jones, age 84, of the Woodlawn community, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Mrs. Jones was born June 17, 1930 in Lone Prairie community located in Ashley County, a daughter to the late Thomas Edward Scott and Vera Avelyne Lee Scott. She was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Jones was an active member of the Snazzy Steppers Red Hatters Club, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 68 years, James Jones of Woodlawn, whom she married on January 24, 1947; three daughters, Jammye Owen and her husband, Jim of Star City, Tonya Glover and her husband, Mike of Rowell, Teresa Huddleston and her husband, Marty of Woodlawn; one brother, Thomas Yates Scott and his wife, Paula of Fort Smith; one sister, Pat McLauren and her husband, James of Zachery, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Patti Cash, Kelli Hooker, Tasha Williams, Brittany Moseley and Chelsi Bates; six great grandchildren, Colby Woolley, Morgan Woolley, Madison Michels, Reece Michels, Kaylee Williams, Cody Williams; and one great great-grandchild, Brody Woolley. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 9, 2015 at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Jackie Richardson and Brother Doney Blackerby officiating with interment to follow in the Rowell Cemetery. Pallbearers are Colby Woolley, Charlie Bates, Ricky Williams, Joey Moseley, Joachim Michels, Reece Michels; and honorary pallbearers are Cody Williams and Brody Woolley.
