Veo T. Lightsey, age 78, of Rison, died, Wednesday, December 5, 2012. He was born August 8, 1934 in Grapevine, a son of the late Floyd Lightsey and Lillie Mae Oldner Lightsey. Mr. Lightsey attended Grapevine School and was a Baptist. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he worked in communications. Mr. Lightsey retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal Fire Department, and had worked for the Pine Bluff Fire Department and Rison High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Lightsey was also preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil Lightsey, Jesse Lightsey and Donald Lightsey; four sisters, Jean Miller, Alleen West, Alice Bradley and Margaret Casteel. Mr. Lightsey is survived by his wife, Frances Kleiner Lightsey of Rison; six children and their spouses, Steve and Michelle Lightsey of Newark, Dennis and Tanya Lightsey of Rison, Vickie Red of Rison, Harvey and Becky Spriggs of Redfield, Charles and Nancy Spriggs of Pine Bluff, Marty and Billy Bowlin of Rison; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo and Ann Lightsey of Grapevine, Robert and Clara Lightsey of Biscoe; eight grandchildren, John Spriggs, Pam Herron, Whitney Dutton, Ryan Bowlin, Holly Lightsey, Matt Spriggs, Colton Lightsey and Sky Lightsey; five great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Buie Funeral Home with Brother Wade Totty officiating. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, prior to service time. Pallbearers are Robert Stephenson, Ryan Stephenson, Harold Fiveash, Phillip Lightsey, Keith Taylor, Kelly Taylor and Ronnie Lightsey.
