Tommy Wayne Johnston, age 80, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Searcy, Arkansas. He was born January 18, 1940 at Montgomery, Alabama to Helen Johnston and J.T. Johnston.
Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jackie Johnston; mother Helen Johnston and father J.T. Johnston.
Wayne is survived by his children Wayne Johnston Jr. (Jenny); Randy Johnston (Vickie); Kim Smith (Shanon); and Jack Johnston (Julie); grandchildren Lily Ann Johnston, Turner Johnston, Gracie Johnston, Will Johnston, Hunter Smith, Britton Johnston, Emily Johnston, Katy Johnston, Kevi Johnston, and Kami Johnston, as well as great grandchildren Hensley Johnston and Magnolia Johnston.
Wayne grew up in Montgomery, and he lived in many places with his family including Memphis, Kansas, and Tampa. He had a long successful career in the auto parts industry. Upon retiring he moved back to Montgomery to care for his disabled wife Jackie for 18 years before her death in 2017. Wayne was a good Christian man with a servant heart often serving as elder or deacon at his church. A visitation for Mr. Johnston will be held Monday, July 13, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel at Montgomery, Alabama, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM. Services will conclude in Greenwood Cemetery after the Celebration of Life. Serving as pallbearers are Randy Johnston, Wayne Johnston, Jack Johnston, Turner Johnston, Hunter Smith, Britton Johnston, Will Johnston, as well as honorary pallbearers Kenneth Johnston and Dick Johnston.
