Thomas Roosevelt Mathis

Thomas Roosevelt Mathis, age 82, of Vilonia, went to be with the Lord in his forever home on April 4, 2022.

He was born February 14, 1940, in Saltillo, Arkansas to Fred and Hazel Mathis. He was married to the love of his life, Linda for 60 years. Tom was a faithful, lifelong member of Oak Bowery Baptist Church. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Union for the past 60 years.

He enjoyed supporting his grandkids in all their activities. He also liked spending time fishing, hunting, checking his cows, feeding his catfish, working on his famous garden, going to the sale at Lewis Livestock Auction, working in his shop, but most of all, spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Hazel Mathis; two brothers, Charles Mathis and Bob Mathis; five sisters, Sybil Moore, Doris Wooley, Dorothy Lester, Christine Ward and Peggy Mathis.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda (Henderson) Mathis of Vilonia; one daughter, Malissa Ellis of Enola; one son, Bryon Mathis (Karan) of Vilonia; one sister, Kathy Smith of Mayflower; five grandchildren, Peyton Dockery of Vilonia; Ashlynn Hackler (James) of Enola; Sydni Mathis of Vilonia; Alaina Simpson (Adam) of Enola; Alyse Ellis of Enola; two great-grandchildren, Huntley Hackler and Koen Simpson; two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, as well as a host of extended family and friends..

The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, April 6th, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Oak Bowery Baptist Church Gymnasium, 889 Otto Road, Conway, Arkansas, 72032. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 7th, 2022, at 10:00 am in Oak Bowery Baptist Church Sanctuary, with Bro. Tim Nolan and Bro. Mike Collier officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bowery Cemetery in Conway, Arkansas.

Pallbearers for the service are Damian Baker, Wesley Conway, James Hackler, Rick Harrell, Kevin Hawks, Casey Henderson, Jordan Mauldin, Adam Simpson.
