Thomas Hankins

Thomas Earl Hankins, age 78, of Rison, Arkansas went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the V.A. Hospital in Little Rock. He was born September 24, 1935 in Star City, Arkansas, a son of the late Charlie Hankins and Iva Anderson Hankins. Mr. Hankins was a member of Cornerstone Church of God in Rison. He was a disabled Army Veteran having served in the Korean War and was a recipient of a Bronze National Defense Medal. Mr. Hankins enjoyed spending time with his family and loved Jesus, fishing, and hunting. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara J. Hankins; parents, Charlie Hankins and Iva Anderson Hankins; brother, Charlie Merle Hankins; and sisters, Mary Ann Heller, Liz McKinney, Trisha Brister, and Edna Farley. Survivors include his daughters, Rebecca Walden and husband, Garrett of Rison, Debbie Standridge and husband, Brian of Rison, and Sharon McEwen and husband, Grover of Lake Village; brothers, Lee Hankins of Glendale and Vernon Hankins of Woodlawn; sister, Eva Woodworth of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Brooke Standridge, Paige Danley, Whitney Milholland, Tarrell McEwen, Laura Johnson, Thomas McDaniel, and Amanda Durham; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Cornerstone Church of God in Rison with Reverend Jonathan Hall and Reverend Brian Standridge officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery in Glendale. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Buie Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Reverend Brian Standridge, Grover McEwen, Tarrell McEwen, Garrett Walden, Thomas McDaniel, and Reverend Jonathan Hall. Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Church of God in Rison.
