Thelma Lee Morris

Thelma Lee Rushing Morris, age 77 of Woodlawn, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 22, 2015. She was born August 12, 1938 at Toledo, a daughter of the late William Thomas Rushing and Lillian Owen Rushing. Mrs. Morris loved to sew, quilt, crochet,working in her garden and growing her violets,she was locally famous for her homemade yeast rolls and a homemaker. She was a special lady, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all that knew her. Mrs. Morris was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1957. Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by two brothers, Ira van Owen, James Rushing; sister, Barbara Patrick. Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Melvin A. Morris of Woodlawn, whom she married May 17, 1957; daughter, Brenda Winningham (Mike) of Woodlawn; son, Terry Morris (Debi) of Woodlawn; grandson, Jason Morris (Tiffany) of Conway; step grandson, Jerry Winninham (Leah) of Cabot; step great granddaughter, Addilyn Winningham of Cabot; her beloved dog Little Bit; sister, Linda Newman of Woodlawn; two brothers, Owen Rushing of Woodlawn and David Rushing of White Hall. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday at Buie Funeral Home. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Woodlawn with Brother Jackie Richardson and Brother Brian Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Friendship Cemetery Association, 750 Wooley Road, Rison, AR. 71665. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
