Sylvia Nadine Newton

Sylvia Nadine Wingard Newton age 86 of Leola, went home to be with her Lord and husband, R. G. Newton on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Sheridan Nursing and Rehab Center, at 2:30 p.m. with her children by her side. Mrs. Newton was born May 27, 1923 in Rison, a daughter of the late Charlie Clinton Wingard and Willie Mae Wright Wingard. She was a homemaker and longtime member of Faith Assembly Of God Church in Leola. Mrs. Newtons faith and family were her cherished possessions. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, R.G. Newton of 66 years; son, Harold Newton; brothers, Oris and Gene Wingard; sisters, Maxine Wingard Moore and Lola Wingard Loveless.

Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Newton McGarity; sons and daughters in law, Robert and Joyce Newton, Kenny Newton, Claude Allen and Sally Newton; Charlie and Pam Newton, all of Leola; daughter in law, Lavern Newton of Malvern; sister in law, Mada Newton of Leola; five grandsons, Carl, Tim, Cody and Darren Newton all of Leola and Bryan McGarity of Pine Bluff; three granddaughters, Connie Newton Hanger, Angela Newton of Leola and Lori Allen of Hot Springs; nine great grandchildren, Taylor and Kyle McGarity and Scott Newton all of Sheridan, Jordan and Julia Allen of Hot Springs, Madison Aud, Daniel and Dillon Bevill, and Dalton Henry all of Leola; two great great grandsons; two brothers, Tommy and Velma Wingard of Sheridan and Clinton Wingard of Hardy; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the Buie Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Brother Roger Hall, Brother Eric Ivy and Brother Keith Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Cemetery at Leola. Visitation will be Monday, April 12, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Carl, Tim, Darren, and Cody Newton, Bryan McGarity and Jordan Allen. Honorary pallbearers are Brother Donald Greer, Jake Holland and David Toler.
