Syble Akines

Syble Akines age 83 of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009. She was born September 27, 1925 in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late Willie Idell and Addie Roberts Reeves. Mrs. Akines worked as a nurses aid at Davis Hospital before her retirement and was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, C. Edward Akines who died on February 26, 2009; brothers, Early Reeves, John Reeves; sister, Dorothy OConner.

Mrs. Akines is survived by three sons, Danny Akines of Pine Bluff, Arlin Akines of Star City, Glen Akines of Pine Bluff; one daughter, Judy Brown of Pine Bluff; one brother, Joe Reeves of McGehee; two sisters, Jean Williams of Grapevine, Hazel Williams of Clarksville; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2009 at Buie Funeral Home Chapel in Rison with Brother Bill Kiggins officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. The family will receive guest from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Rob Varnell, Tyler Akines, James Cozad, Lee Akines, Johnny Akines, Bobby Akines, Brian Akines and Danny Akines Jr. Honorary pallbearers are the Department of Community Correction Honor Guard.
