Samuel Alexander Puckett

Samuel A."Sam" Puckett, age 77, of the Randall Community near Rison, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Mr. Puckett was born, November 15, 1937, son of the late Ray Samuel Puckett and Ella Belle May Puckett. He worked for the International Paper Company in the maintenance department, retiring after 41 years. Mr. Puckett enjoyed hunting, fishing, making crappie jigs, flying model airplanes, yard work, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Gregory Allen Shumake; and his brother, Hershel Puckett. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Craig Puckett of the Randall Community, whom he married December 12, 1958; son, Samuel Craig Puckett (Robin) of Randall; daughter, Janice Shumake of Randall; brothers, Donald Puckett of Pine Bluff and Floyd Ray Puckett of Rogers; sister, Nora Mae Briant of Monticello; four grandchildren, Denise Puckett, Lindsey Purifoy (Willie), Jeremy Shumake, and Ramsey Shumake; and two great-grandchildren, Lexei Purifoy and Zion Purifoy. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2015 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with Brother David Leopard and Brother John Fulmer officiating. Burial will follow at Drake Cemetery in Star City. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jerry Phillips, Tom White, Thomas Hall, H.R.
