Ruth Tillman

Julia Ruth Doss Tillman of Sheridan and Rison, Arkansas passed away April 12, 2025. She was born September 18, 1936, in Rison, Arkansas to Samuel Parks Doss and Mattie Jo Pennington. She was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School.

Ruth was a faithful member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Toledo, Arkansas, a devoted believer who was always active her church in singing and writing. Her family was the joy of her life, especially as a devoted mother to her sons.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, as well as five sisters and four brothers. She was married to Thomas Chester Tillman who died in 2005.

She is survived by her sons, Ronnie Tillman and wife, Peggy of Prattville, Arkansas and Ken Tillman and wife, Ginger of Greenville, South Carolina; granddaughters Amy Hughes and husband, Blake of Arkadelphia; Emily Wright and husband, Casey of Alexander; and Kennedy Lechak and husband, Colton of Sheridan; grandson Joshua Mitchell of Las Vegas, Nevada; and great children Palmer Wright, Jenson Wright, Charlie Hughes and Tillman Lechak.

A visitation will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Buie and Cole Funeral Home, 302 North Main St., Rison, Arkansas 71665. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Bro. Ronald Young officiating, a special message from son Ken Tillman, and a special song by son Ronnie Tillman. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Kedron.
