Rupert Mack Smith

Rupert “Mack” Smith, 71, of Garner, passed away April 19, 2019 at Unity Health in Searcy.  He was born April 23, 1947 at Poughkeepsie, Arkansas to the late Everett and Pearl Shirley Smtih.
Mr. Smith graduated from Poughkeepsie High School, a class of 8, going on to enlist in the United States Air Force.  He served 20 years as an Aircraft Mechanic Crew Chief, retiring in 1992 at Tech Sergeant.  After retirement, he worked for the Searcy Airport as an aircraft mechanic alongside Elmo Everett until his health failed.  Mack enjoyed beekeeping and fishing, but most of all he loved time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers,
He married Linda Nelson Smith May 27, 1966 at Sheridan, Indiana; she survives.  He is also survived by two daughters, Kristina Sanchez (Pablo) and Deborah Howell (Jerry) both of Garner; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Bernita Mobley of Arcadia, Indiana and Annetta Herrick of Kensett; and a faithful helper, Don Chapman of Garner.
The family will have a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Garner Baptist Church.
