Ruby Landrum Walter, 76, of Howell, Michigan, formerly of Augusta, Arkansas, passed from this life August 4, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Howell, Michigan. She was born August 19, 1939 at Augusta to the late Abraham and Alzura Brown Landrum.
She was a 1958 graduate of Carver High School in Augusta, Arkansas and a 1963 graduate of AM&N College in Pine Bluff with a Master’s Degree in Childhood Education. She loved cooking and was particularly excellent at it. She also loved gardening and working in the yard, and especially loved flowers. She had a high respect for higher education, and instilled that philosophy in her two sons, whom have obtained Master’s Degrees as well.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Eddie Landrum, Willie B. Landrum, and William Landrum; and three sisters, Fannie Grant, Lorzee Reed, and Willie Rowland.
She is survived by her sons, Roderic and Erek Walter of Detroit; four brothers, Abraham Landrum Jr. of McCrory, Isaac Landrum of Jonesboro, Ark., Rev. B.J. Landrum (Charlene) of Kansas City, Mo., and Walter Landrum (GayLa) of Fullerton, Ca.; five sisters, Levada Bibbs of Dayton, Ohio, Savannah Snodgrass of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, Lonzella Foster, Ann Haywood, and Mae Smith all of Chicago.
Burial will be private, with interment at Quiet Cemetery in Augusta, Arkansas.
