Robert Smith

Robert “Bobby” Allen Smith of McRae AR passed away peacefully on July 6, 2023. He was born on November 29, 1945, to William and Ada Smith in Houston, Texas.  He received a Honorable Discharge from the Army in 1965 after serving with the 101stAirborne Division at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and a tour in Vietnam.  After returning from Vietnam, he began a very successful career as a welder on the pipeline, stretching across several states in the Midwest. He returned to McRae after retirement to spend time with family and friends.

He is survived by his two children, Kevin Hanner (Yvette) of Augusta, GA, Shelly Smith of Salina, Kansas. He is also survived by six loving grandchildren (Lauren (Zachary), Tyler (Shea), Bret, Jarred, Sarah, and Jasmine) and five great-grandsons (Maddox, Nash, Kyler, Kolter and Rowan), and several nieces and nephews. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ada Smith, his two sisters, Helen Liles and Mary McClure, and two brothers, Billy Smith and Jimmy Smith.
