Robbie Lee McDaniel, 80, of Searcy joined her beloved husband, Charles McDaniel, in their eternal home in Glory. She was born August 30, 1940, to the late Brother C. L. and Melba Olds Bray at Henning, TN.
Robbie graduated as valedictorian Class of 1957 at Harrison Chilhowie Baptist Academy at Seymour, TN. She was studying to transcribe medical records. Her life experiences took her on a different path as she spent many years working as a secretary in many fields, most recently in the filmmaking industry.
She was a loving mother to her own children as well as to anyone who needed a “bonus” mother. As a member of River of Life Church, she was one who loved a good sermon and the simple hymns of the church. Robbie loved God, was a devout Christian woman, and loved her family. She was the peace- keeper of the family. She enjoyed the times her family got together to share food and fellowship.
Robbie was an avid doll collector, decorating her home with a variety of dolls. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and playing sweet music on the piano. Robbie was a member of both the Red Hat Society and Doll Club of Searcy. She also served her community through the Order of The Eastern Star and was a past matron of Job’s Daughters. Her giving heart and warm smile will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents and late husband, Robbie was preceded in death by her sisters, Colleen Bray and Betty Bray Larkey; brother Marvin Bray; and her son, Norman Lee Mathis.
She is survived by three sons, Jessie Mathis (Donna) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Douglas Mathis (Ann) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Richard McDaniel (Angela) of Granite City, Illinois; six daughters, GiGi Mathis Bettendorf (Steve) of Bennington, Nebraska, Cindy McDaniel Mefford (Rusty) of Hollister, Missouri, Lori McDaniel Nichols (John) of Granite City, Illinois, Ethyl Mathis Lyons (Jim) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Johanna Mathis Reed of Searcy, and Angel McDaniel also of Searcy; 26 grandchildren, Patricia, April, John, Steven, Madison, Jessie, Shelby, and Joey (Jessie’s children), John, Michael, and Mira (GiGi’s Children), Rachel, Jessica, Joshua “Trooper” (Cindy’s children), Mandy and Bobby (Douglas’ children), Corey and Whitney (Lori’s children), Nicki, Cana and Bethany (Ethyl’s children), Caleb (Richard’s son), Isabella (Johanna’s daughter), and Lennon (Angel’s son); as well as 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
