Richard Calvin Mcdaniel

October 13, 1938 — January 26, 2023

Scott

Richard Calvin McDaniel, 84, born in Watson, AR on October 13, 1938, of Scott, AR went to be with the LORD on January 26, 2023 with his wife Kaci McDaniel by his side. Richard was a tremendous husband and father and the true patriarch of his family.

He attended school at Lake Village and graduated from Dermott High School, where he was an All-State Track and Field star. After graduation he joined the United States Navy and served in interior communications. Upon completing the service with the Navy, he would begin a career working for the United States Postal Service.

After several years living in West Virginia, Richard made his way back home to Arkansas to be close to his mother and siblings and raise his son around his family.

He loved traveling America and taking road trips from coast to coast, making stops at every possible sightseeing location he could find. He and his wife Kaci loved taking cruises and as a Navy veteran found so much joy in being out on the water.

Richard was also a very accomplished gardener. At every place he lived he would work long hours growing a garden full of vegetables and planting fruit trees. To this day, he has a freezer full of food and would donate the majority of it to the community, to his neighbors and to those in need. To many, he was known simply as “the farmer”.

Richard was the man that cared for everyone who crossed his path and made friends wherever he went. When he was 40, he had friends that were 80. When he was 80, he made friends that were 40. That’s the kind of man he was.

But most importantly, though, he loved the LORD. From morning devotionals, praying on his daily walks and the legacy he left of pointing his son to God, Richard to the very end lifted up his prayers to the LORD and now has the privilege of being with Him.

He was preceded in death by his wife June McDaniel, his parents Letha May and Joe McDaniel, brother Ray McDaniel, sisters Evelyn Fortenberry, Joyce DeAngelo, and Nettie Pearl McDaniel.

He is survived by his wife Kaci McDaniel, who he married on January 2, 1981. They were married 42 years, a son Jeff McDaniel of Little Rock, step daughter Anita Worrell of North Little Rock, step sons Richie and Bryan Cobb of Phenix City, seven grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
