Raymond Franklin Lacy

August 8, 1942 — May 8, 2020

Kensett

Raymond “Ray” Lacy, 77, of Kensett, passed away at his home on May 8, 2020.  He was born August 8, 1942 at Texarkana to the late Franklin Reeves and Laura Ney Lacy.  He went on to marry Ruth Anne Newton on January 31, 1964 at Miami, Florida.  They enjoyed 53 adventurous years together until her passing in March 2016.
Ray is survived by two sons, Scott Lacy (Nona) of Searcy and Chris Lacy of Augusta, Georgia; one daughter, Avriel Lacy-Brown (Maurice)  of Dallas; one sister, Joyce Cummings; four grandchildren, Nathan Lacy, Crystal Lacy, Lauren Lacy, and Keeley Blackwell; and one great grandson, Felix Lacy.
Ray will be remembered for his spectacular sense of humor.  He enjoyed his radio program and found joy in deejaying events and radio shows expressing his eclectic love of rock and roll music.   Ray was a veteran of the Korean War, retiring as Sergeant First Class US Army. There he found his passion for communications.  Upon retiring, he attended Harding University and obtained his BA in Communications. Ray enjoyed collecting stamps, which he did with his mother, as well as collecting coins.  Jewelry making was also a favorite pastime. Ray was a member and deacon of the Judsonia Church of Christ.   He and Ruth Anne were known to mentor the youth of the church, sponsor the social club outings of Harding, and volunteered diligently at the food and clothes pantries and Paws Inn Shelter.  He loved his church congregation and his family dearly and he will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16 in the Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Kensett.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Paws Inn No Kill Animal Shelter.
