Pebbel Lee Taylor

Pebbel Lee Smith Taylor, ( 91), formerly of Rison, Arkansas died May 24, 2011 in Lufkin, Texas. She was born June 4, 1919 in Grant County, Arkansas and was the daughter of Ethel Virginia (Carleton) and George Griffin Smith. Her family was among the early pioneers in Grant County, Arkansas and included her maternal grandparents Margaret Jane (Crutchfield) and Eugene Robinson Carleton, and her maternal great grandparents Amanda (Symonds) and James H. Crutchfield. The Smith family farmed and she grew up in the Dogwood community on land that was homesteaded by her parents. She attended elementary school in a school built on land donated by her parents.

Mrs. Taylor was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was formerly employed by Sears Credit in Pine Bluff, Ark. and retired after 27 years of service. She was a member of Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church, Rison, Arkansas where she was a devoted Sunday school teacher for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph (Joe) Harrison Taylor; brother, Huel Byron Smith, brother, Jearl C.Smith, and sister, Laura Nell Smith. Survivors include her son J. R. Ritchey and wife Patricia of Lufkin, Texas; grandson Stephen J. Ritchey and wife Beth of Rowlett, Texas; granddaughter, Shannon L. Bullock and husband William of Bryan, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Bullock and Olivia Ritchey and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 26 from 6:00 -8:00 pm at Buie Funeral Home, Sheridan, Ark. Graveside services will be May 27, at Philadelphia Cemetery, Prattsville, Ark. at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Jim Tollison officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimerss Association.
