Ophie Davis Lancaster

Ophie Davis Lancaster, 93, of Sheridan, died Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Sheridan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 21, 1914 in Rison, a daughter of the late Milton Montgomery and Mary Johnnie Holderfield Davis. Mrs. Lancaster owned and operated Ophies Bait Shop in Sheridan for twelve years until 1978. She then worked for Grant County Museum. She was very active in the Senior Citizens Center and was a member of the Christian Church. Mrs. Lancaster was preceded in death by her husband, A.L. Red Lancaster in 1977, and five brothers.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Leon and Elizabeth Ann Lancaster, Raymond and Glenda Lancaster, all of Sheridan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara and Bobby Pinson, Helen Adams, both of Sheridan; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Buie Funeral Chapel with Brother Mark Lindsey and Jim Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Sheridan Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 Friday, August 22, 2008 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are: Gary Pinson, Steve Lancaster, Marty Lancaster, Todd Lancaster, Wayne Miller, and Lance Wallingsford.
