Odis Olen Yancey, age 88, of South Houston, Texas, formerly of Sheridan passed away Monday, August 3, 2009 at Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena, Texas. He was born May 5, 1921 in Patmus, Arkansas, a son of the late Willie and Minnie Hicks Yancey. Mr. Yancey was a veteran who served in World War II and the Korean War as an Army Sergeant. He retired from Champion Paper Company in Pasadena, Texas and was a member of Asbury Methodist Church. Mr. Yancey loved to hunt with his family and friends and was a member of the Missed It Hunting Club in Grant County, Arkansas. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bernice June Taylor Yancey; four brothers, Milton, Eddie, Grady, and Dee Yancey.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Michele Yancey of Pasadena, Texas; two daughters, Rhonda Villalobos, and Donna Kanady, both of South Houston, Texas; sister, Lois Tatom of Stamps, Arkansas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Phyllis Taylor of Sheridan; eight loving grandchildren; six loving great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Buie Funeral Chapel in Sheridan with Brother Robert Cossey and Brother Derrell Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2009 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be: Wayne Creed, Bob Robertson, Doyce Dougan, Bobby Dougan, Jason Guffy, and Caroll Guffy. Please sign the online guestbook at www.buiefuneralhome.com.
