Norma Jean Cotton

Norma Jean Cotton, age 82 of Sheridan, was met Monday, June 14, 2009 at Heavens Gate by her husband, Frank of 59 years, along with her grandson, Mike Cotton and granddaughter, Lisa Cotton. She was born April 4, 1927 in Gifford, Arkansas to Roan and Verdie Harris Carver. On December 19, 1943 she married Frank Cotton in Sheridan. She was a longtime faithful member of Little Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Cotton loved her family and was a big fan of their car racing. She regularly walked with her friends at the Recreation Center, and enjoyed mowing her lawn.

She is survived by three sons, Jimmy Ray (Linda) Cotton, Jerry (Sandra) Cotton and Randy Cotton, all of Sheridan; brother, Ellis Carver of Searcy; sister-in-law, Ellen Carver of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Carla Rodgers, Teri Hollingshead, Richie Cotton; seven great grandchildren, Amanda Green, Emily Green, Shelby Green, Ashley Cotton, Dylan Hollingshead, Jake and Justin Cotton; two great great grandsons, Cason Raber and Brayden Davidson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Little Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Ricky Poyner and Brother Jim Wagner officiating. Burial will follow at Rhodes Cemetery near Sheridan. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are: Jerry Don Hollingshead, Sean Adamson, Matthew Gill, Bobby Gill, Darrell Roberts, Cody Raber. Honarary pallbearers are: Richie Cotton, Earnie Rodgers, Dylan Hollingshead.
