Norene Page Lamb

NORENE PAGE LAMB, 89, of Leola, went to join her departed loved ones October 7, 2007. Her family is comforted knowing that she is now reunited with her husband of 73 years, Austin Franklin Lamb; her first son, Austin Franklin Frankie Lamb Jr.; her parents, William Carl and Nancy Jane Page of Leola; brother Jesse Page of Malvern; sisters, Bernice Page Rice of Little Rock and Lestie Page Drake of Sheridan; and 28 aunts and uncles.

She is survived by three sons, Charles (Celia) Lamb of El Dorado, Mike (Judy) Lamb of Birmingham, AL, and Randy Lamb of Shreveport, LA; granddaughters Sharon Lamb (Bill) Gunter of Dublin, Ireland, Michele Lamb (Stephen) Hicks of Birmingham, AL, and Shawna Lamb of Austin, TX; grandson Chris Lamb of Fayetteville; great-grandson Austin Hicks; and numerous nieces and nephews. Norene was born June 7, 1918, in Leola, AR. She was educated at Leola High School and Henderson State Teachers College. During her long and happy marriage, she lived in Little Rock, Fordyce, Malvern, Arkadelphia and Leola. She loved to play the piano and sing and took part in many school and church activities, especially while her sons were in school. She taught piano in Leola and Carthage and until just a few years ago sang in the church choir. She taught youth and ladies Sunday School for many years.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 9, from 6-8 PM at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 10, at 11:00 AM at the Leola Baptist Church, where she was a member, followed by burial at the Leola Cemetery. Pastors Bob Frazier, Shelton Miller and Johnie Brewster will officiate. Pallbearers will be Howard Easterling, Ben Smith, Garry Crowder, Roger Hall, George Stiles and Jonathan Bibb. Sue Easterling, Janice Ford Earls and the Ladies Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Leola Baptist Church, P.O. Box 165, Leola, AR, 72084. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Sheridan.
