Nellie Jo Maroney

December 28, 1921 — June 6, 2008

Nellie Jo Hall Maroney, age 86 of Rison, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, June 6, 2008. She was born December 28, 1921 in Cleveland County, Arkansas, a daughter of the late John Henry and Mattie DeArmond Hall. Ms. Maroney retired from Ben Pearson and was a member of Bethel Number One Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to dig in the dirt, read her bible and go to church. Ms. Maroney was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Jessie Hall, Willie Hall, Victor Hall and Ira Hall; four sisters, Naomi Hall Manuel, Gertrude Hall Taylor, Myrtle Hall Kinkade, Leona Hall Brown and her husband, Earl Junior Maroney, whom she married on March 28, 1942.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Tommy Joe Maroney of Waterlou, South Carolina, Victor Mack Maroney and wife, Lola of Banks, Arkansas; one sister, Mabel Stover of Warren; eight grandchildren, Kim Lowe, Mike Maroney, Shari Young, Lucky and Thomas Maroney of Waterlou, South Carolina, Marc Maroney of Rye, Arkansas, Shelli Cross of El Dorado, Arkansas, Lisa Carlan of Homer, Georgia; ten great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2008 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with Brother Jim Tollison officiating. Burial will follow in Moore's Church Cemetery near Rison. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers are Tom Taylor, Jerry Taylor, Ben Taylor, Larry Hall, Ricky Fore and David Davis. Memorials may be made to Moore's Church Cemetery Association, 4050 Moore's Church Road, Rison, Arkansas 71665. Arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison (810-325-6216).
