Myrtle Freeman Koon

Myrtle Freeman Koon, age 88, of Sheridan passed away Monday, April 26, 2010 at Hot Springs County Medical Center in Malvern. She was born March 5, 1922 in Sheridan, a daughter of the late Please C. and Mary Elizabeth Crutchfield Freeman. Mrs. Koon retired after many years of employment as a cook at the Sheridan Nursing and Rehab Center. She was a member of Bethany #1 Missionary Baptist Church in Grapevine, and a member of the Sheridan Chapter 212 Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Chaplin for many years. Mrs. Koon was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Koon; several brothers and sisters; and her pet and companion for many years, her cat Fluffy.

She is survived by her friend and caregiver, Sallie Wiggins of Sheridan; brother-in-law, Jimmy Koon of Sheridan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Sheridan Cemetery with Brother Roy Polk officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Please sign the online guestbook at www.buiefuneralhome.com.
