Murlene Golden age 76 of Rison died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. She was born October 22, 1934 in Point Cedar, Arkansas, a daughter of the Charles Wesley Skates and Essie Lillie Span Skates. Mrs. Golden graduated from Central High School in Hot Springs in 1955. She married James Golden on February 24, 1961. Mrs. Golden was an LPN for four years, worked with her husband in the missionary field during their entire marriage of over forty nine years. She enjoyed sewing, delivering charity supplies, loved helping and showing her love to others. Mrs. Golden was of the Pentecostal Faith. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Albert Nathanial Skates.
Mrs. Golden is survived by her husband, James Golden of Rison; son, Samuel Golden of Buford, Georgia; daughter, Dwana Golden of Kingsland; two brothers, Winston Skates of Euclid, Ohio and Omar Skates of Hot Springs; two sisters, Vernel Capehart of Mt. Ida and Reba Gasaway of Sapupa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Rony Jiron and Joshua Jiron, both of Belize, Matthew Golden of Buford, Georgia, and Alva Rivera of Guatemala; three great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 12:00 p.m., Monday, December 20, 2010 at Buie Funeral Home Chapel in Rison with Reverend Bert Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Gum Grove Cemetery near Kingsland. Visitation is 10:30 to 12:00 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010 prior to service. Pallbearers are Samuel Golden, Matthew Golden, Ronald Golden, John Golden and Johnny Hays.
