Mildred Louise Roeck

December 9, 1927 — May 5, 2009

Mildred Louise (Hunter) Roeck, 81 of Hot Springs went to be with our Lord on the 5th day of May, 2009 after a short battle with cancer. The family rejoices in the fact that she is no longer suffering. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Oliver Roeck of Chicago, Illinois; her son, John Allen Knowles of Anchorage, Alaska; and her three siblings, Ralph (Poke) Edward Hunter, William Hershel Hunter and Venita (Hunter) Lightsey, all of Sheridan. Born December 9, 1927 in Sheridan, Arkansas to William Cal and Lola Josephine (Hamilton) Hunter, she was the youngest of four children. Mildred graduated from Sheridan High school in 1946. She married Robert Oliver Roeck of Chicago, Illinois on October 10, 1958 in Buena Park, California. Mildred and Robert Bob built their retirement home on Lake Hamilton in 1978. After the death of her husband of 22 years, Mildred returned to a position in banking with Arkansas Bank & Trust. She worked for AB&T for 10 years before retiring; after a short stint in retirement Mildred resumed employment with Regions (formerly AB&T) Bank where she remained for an additional 10 years. She finally retired at the age of 72. Mildred was also of the Baptist faith. Her grandsons Dylan and Paul occupied her latter years in life; they both hold very special places in her heart. She spent many hours watching both of them as youngsters. Her pastimes became watching Dylan perform with the Lake Hamilton Power band and play baseball and watching Paul play baseball and football, as well as watching and rooting for the Chicago Cubs with them.
