Michael Thomas Mckinney

August 2, 1946 — September 5, 2007

Michael Thomas McKinney age 61, the son of Paul McKinney of Russellville and the late Margie McKinney, began life on August 2, 1946 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. His journey on this earth ended September 5, 2007 in Irving, Texas. Though Mike lived a simple life he was not a simple man. He graduated from Irving High School in 1964 and after two years of college joined the Army. Upon the completion of training Mike was assigned to an intelligence security division in Germany. Being an honorable man Michael volunteered for a tour of duty in Viet Nam saying I am single and willing to take the place of someones husband or father. Upon an honorable discharge from the service Mike entered East Texas State University where he received a BS in Political Science in 1973 and a MS in 1975. He enjoyed a long career with Home Depot and considered his co-workers his second family. True to his belief that being single made him more flexible he frequently volunteered to work holidays so others could be with family. Michael was a Believer and a member of the Baptist faith.

He will be sorely missed by his father, Paul, sister, Paula and husband David, two nieces and their husbands, one grandnephew as well as his Home Depot family of friends. Through Gods gift of memories Mike will always be with us until we are reunited in Heaven.

Graveside services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, September 10, 2007 at Greenwood Cemetery in Rison with Brother Wade Totty officiating. Pallbearers: Larry McKinney, David McKinney, Ricky Fore, Lamar Jennings,Herschel S. Garner, and Don Miller. Arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870)325-6216.
