Melvin Marrow

Melvin "Mel" Marrow, age 84 of Woodlawn Community near Rison, died, Monday, July 22, 2013 at his home. He was born April 29, 1929 in Phil Campbell, Alabama, a son of the late Hershel Marrow and Ella Mae Pounders Marrow. Mr. Marrow was a retired Barber, retiring after fifty one years of service. He also worked in farming and factories in his early years. Mr. Marrow loved his barber shop visits, his church, visiting family and gardening. He was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Marrow served as a deacon for over fifty years at different churches. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Kay Marrow Doler; brother, James Marrow; sister, Louise Marrow Bennett; daughter-in-law, Pamela Meggs Marrow. Mr. Marrow is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Wanda Karnes Marrow of Woodlawn, whom he married on June 10, 1950; two sons and daughter-in-law, Gene Marrow and Phyllis of Corinth, Mississippi, Tim Marrow of Rison; one daughter and son-in-law, Dianne Marrow Aud and William of Woodlawn; one sister, Ann Lee Marrow Lloyd of Memphis, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Elisha Mae Marrow Jones and Chad, Melissa Marrow, Jason Aud and Jamie, Alan Aud and Frances, Angel Renee Marrow, Adam Marrow and Britteny and Brandon Marrow; seven great grandchildren, Cody Smith, Jacob Smith, Riley Aud, Baylee Aud, Connor Scoggin, Caden Scoggin and Macie Kay Marrow. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Jackie Richardson and Brother John Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Buie Funeral Home. Pallbearers are grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jason Aud, Alan Aud, Brandon Marrow, Adam Marrow, Cody Smith, and Jacob Smith. Honorary pallbearers are George Harris, Bob Wells, Frank Long, Charlie Watts, Havis Harrison, Bobby Dixon, Chuck Valentine, Dale Cash, Tom Brown and James Cash. Memorials may be made to Friendship Cemetery Association, 750 Wooley Road, Rison, Arkansas 71665. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
