Mattie Mae McGarrah, age 87, of Sheridan, Arkansas, went to be with the lord Friday, March 7, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 28, 1926 to the late Bryan Winston and Vera Ellen (Owen) Winston. Mattie was a housewife and a very talented painter of portraits and landscapes. She also enjoyed quilting and was a master quilt maker. Mattie was a member of the Quilters Guild in Benton and Sheridan where she won many awards. She was a member of the Ephesus Extension Homemakers Club and was a lifetime member of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Mattie was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Fred McGarrah. She is survived by three sons, Danny McGarrah and Carroll McGarrah, both of Sheridan, Arkansas, Michael (Kathy) McGarrah of Mena, Arkansas; one daughter, Bonita McGarrah of Sheridan, Arkansas; two sisters, Arlene Winston and Virgie Bratton. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends that will miss her dearly. Funeral service will be at 3:00 P.M., Monday, March 10, 2014 at Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan, Arkansas with visitation from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. prior to the service with Brother Neil Pumphrey and Brother Kenneth Click officiating. Pallbearers will be Phillip McGarrah, Brian McGarrah, Bart McGarrah, Eli McGarrah, Jessie McGarrah, Matthue McGarrah, Silas McGarrah, Randy Ray, Zachery Ray, Jacob Ray, James Hicks, Jr., Greg Hicks, Corey McTigrit, Brett McTigrit, Ronnie Brown, and Andrew Beauregard, Rhyder Reed, Dave Mitchell, Hadyn McGarrah. . Interment will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery, Sheridan, Arkansas
