Mary A. Hamilton

Mary Aileen Hamilton age 76 of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born November 3, 1932 in the Rye Community, a daughter of the late John T. Hatcher, G. D. Barfield and Esther Lauhon Barfield. Mrs. Hamilton was a homemaker and a member of the former Pine Crest Missionary Baptist Church, now a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church. She was a 1951 graduate of Watson Chapel High School and a member of the Homemakers Extension Club. Mrs. Hamilton was also preceded in death by one sister, Gracie Dixon; three brothers, J. T. Hatcher, Robert Hatcher, and James Taylor; one granddaughter, Kathy Jo Johnson.

Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her husband, Ira N. Hamilton whom she married on December 16, 1950; two sons and daughters-in-law, John D. Hamilton and Rhonda of Jefferson, Ira N. Hamilton Jr. and Christine of Hayward, California; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Brown and Lester of Pine Bluff, Martha Sue Sweet and Steven of Eagle Point, Oregon; one brother, Bennie Hatcher of Pine Bluff; eleven grandchildren, Erik Johnson, Otis Johnson, Michael Brown, Becky Lasley, Ira Dale Sweet, Matthew Hamilton, Sarah Hamilton, Thomas Hamilton, Nikki Hartsfield, Brandy Martin, Shaun Hartsfield; twenty five great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Oakland Heights Baptist Church with Brother Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery at Rye. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Buie Funeral Home of Rison. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22311. Arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
