Mary Virginia (Edwards) Guffy

Mary Virginia Guffy, age 79, of Rison, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.  She was born in Rison, Arkansas on August 1, 1939, to Eddie Edwards and Alma Davis Edwards Nork.  Over the many years of her life, Mrs. Guffy worked in various fields.  She was a licensed Cosmetologist and a licensed Travel Agent.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three children, Brian J. Hoover, Lisa C. Couch, David D. Guffy Jr.; three brothers, Gene Edwards, Curtis Edwards, Albert Edwards; three sisters, Opal Ashcraft, Ermalee Reynolds and Esther Thompson.

Survivors include her loving husband of 42 years, David D. Guffy Sr.; daughter, Konnie (Damon) Martin of Colorado; grandchildren, Benjamin J. Couch, Brian J. (Amanda) Hoover Jr., both of Georgia, Karla Hoover of Florida, William (Cheyenne) Guffy of Sheridan, Emily (Blake) Barnes of White Hall, Lauren Martin (Kyle) Masterson, Tanner Martin, both Colorado and Stormi Tabor of Sheridan; eight wonderful great grandchildren; brothers, Jessie Edwards of Arkadelphia, Jimmy Edwards, Billy Edwards, both of Pine Bluff; sister, Linda Smith of Pine Bluff; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2019 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with Brother John Fulmer officiating.  Interment will follow at Prosperity Cemetery in Rison.  A visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 p.m.  Pallbearers are Bobby Whipple, Jeffery Whipple, Bill "Buddy" Bell, Larry Bosnick, Ron Edwards and River Byrne; honorary pallbearers are George Boyd, Dewayne Whipple, Austin Brandon and Danny Frye.  Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
