Mary Elizabeth Whitaker

Mary Elizabeth (Garrett) Whitaker, age 72, of Benton, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away on March 10th, 2022.
She was born August 23rd, 1949, in Ferndale, Arkansas to Edgar and Alta Garrett. She was a Christian in the Baptist faith and a member of El Paso First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, cooking, her animals and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Cleo Gibbons, Jr, (DeeAnn); Richard Gibbons; and Shane Gibbons (Nancy); three brothers, Buster Ellis (Wanda); Jackie Garrett (Sharon); Buddy Garrett (Carolyn); one sister, Billie Jean Hoveland; four grandchildren, Ashlee Redd (Sean); Kylee Gibbons; Clay Gibbons; Carson Gibbons; two great-grandchildren, Leah and Tatum; as well as host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lucky Whitaker; one sister, Audrey Crow and one brother, Roger Dale Garrett.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, March 14th, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at El Paso First Baptist Church, 1589 Ridge Rd, El Paso, Arkansas 72045. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 14th, 2022 at 11:00 am also at the church with Brother Larry Grubbs officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at Lonoke Cemetery in Lonoke, Arkansas.
Pallbearers for the service are Cleo Gibbons, Jr, Richard Gibbons, Shane Gibbons, Clay Gibbons, Michael Lacewell and Jimmie Howard. Honorary pallbearer is Tatum Yancey.
