Mary Catherine Cummings

Mary Catherine Cummings, age 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at her home in Pine Bluff, Ar. She was born April 2,1946 in Sheridan, AR to the late Lloyd B and Emma Bryant Mitchell. Mary received her education from Sheridan High School in 1964. Then went to secretarial school in Hot Springs, Ar. She worked for Rockwell Manufacturing, and then worked in Workman’s Compensation for the State of Arkansas.  Mary was a member of Whiteville Missionary Baptist church.

Mary married James Earl Cummings on April 26, 1966 at her brother’s James house. They settled in the Watson Chapel community and had one son, Brian Earl Cummings. Mary was a dedicated wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband (James)Jimmy E Cummings of 58 years. Her son Brian Earl Cummings (Angela) of Pine Bluff, grandson, Brian James Cummings of Pine Bluff, brothers, Elton Mitchell (Betty) of Sheridan, and James Mitchell (Brenda) of Grapevine community, sisters, Helen Crowder of Sheridan, and Carolyn Brown of Searcy, Ar.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Leon Mitchell of Sheridan, Kenneth Mitchell of Sheridan, and by her sisters, Grace Cooper of Summerville, S.C. and Shirley Cessna of Texarkana, TX.

Graveside services will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Brown Cemetery in the Faith Community, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
