Marvin Leonis Ferren was born July 3, 1925, to Alvin Elmer and Elva May Ferren, and he died January 2, 2022, in Kensett, Arkansas. He lived all his life in White County, Arkansas,

When Marvin was 19, he joined the U.S. Navy. He was a Seaman First class. He served during World War II. He served on the USS Sanborn. After the war ended at age 21, he came back home to Arkansas, bought some property, married, raised his family there, and remained on the same piece of property his whole life.

Marvin and his late ex-spouse, Virginia Pugh Ferren, had three sons whom he is survived by: Glen Dale (Ruth) of Kensett, Richard Lynn ( Ann) of Searcy, and Gary Ray ( Debbie) of Benton, Arkansas. Marvin has 5 Grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren: Aleta Renee Rast (Brian), Selena Michelle Evans (Mark),Jennifer Elanie D’ Andrea, Justin Ray Ferren ( Katelyn), and Jessica Lynn Plouch (Jeff) Amanda Renee McCoy ( John), and Paige Nicole Padgett.

He also has 13 great- grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren: Kayla Dyson (Craig), Josie Rast, Brandon Ferren, Jaden and Spencer Evans; Callie, Brianna, Leah and Annabel McCoy; Jacob, Jada, Jodie and Jaylin Arias; Callie Donahue and Rylie Ferren, Katelynn and Natalie Ferren, Brayden and Hudson Collins and Owen Plouch.

Marvin is also survived by brothers Carl (Marlene) and Alvin (Gloria) Ferren, and sisters Lela Vire, Katie Hunter (Charles) Hunter, Velma (Louie) Reed, Peggy Mendenhall, as well as many cousins, Nieces, Nephews, other family, and a host of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Elmer and Elva Ferren, brothers Ray Void, “Buddy” and Cloyce Dean Ferren, and one sister, Mildred June Henderson.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Sullivan Funeral Care with funeral services 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the Sullivan Memorial Chapel.  Burial will privately occur at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Searcy.
