Martha Ruth Thomasson

Mrs. Martha "ma-ru" Kilpatrick Thomasson, age 88, a resident of Pennybyrn at Maryfield, High Point, North Carolina, formerly of Rison, passed over the River at 10:05 a.m. on November 1, 2011. She was born November 20, 1922 in Fordyce, Arkansas, the third daughter of Marvin Kilpatrick and Ruth Hearnsberger Kilpatrick. Her childhood years were spent in Dallas County, Arkansas. On March 19, 1941 she married Robert Andrew Thomasson of Rison, Arkansas. This union was blessed with a son, Duncan Andrew Thomasson and daughter, Tina Robin Thomasson. Mrs. Thomasson was an active member of Rison Baptist Church, a homemaker and mother, and was employed by the Cleveland County Board of Education for twenty years. She remained in Rison after the death of her husband, Bob, in 1971, until moving to North Carolina in 2002 to be near her daughter. Mrs. Thomasson is survived by her son, Colonel Duncan A. Thomasson, US Army Retired and wife, Jan of Richmond, Virginia and her daughter, Tina Van Landingham and husband, Rusty of High Point, North Carolina; four granddaughters and seven great grandsons. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 7, 2011 at Greenwood Cemetery with Brother Wade Totty officiating.
