Marie Ruth Briant

Marie Ruth Briant age 77 of the Rowell Community near Rison, died Wednesday October 29, 2008 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born December 15, 1930, in Cleveland County, a daughter of Mollie Una Brown Simms and the late Morgan Simms. Mrs. Briant was a seamstress for Brown Manufacturing before her retirement and was a member of Center Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Morgan Simms, and one brother, Gerald Simms.

Mrs. Briant is survived by her husband, Charles Ray Briant of Rowell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clifton and Nora Briant of Monticello, Kenneth and Tammy Briant of Wolfe City, Texas; mother, Mollie Simms Shelby of Rison; two sisters, Juanita Terry of Pansy, Faye Bradley of Woodlawn; three grandchildren, Morgan Briant, Douglas Briant and Stephen Briant.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Center Missionary Baptist Church at Rowell with Brother Doney Blackerby and Brother Andy Connard officiating. Burial will follow in Rowell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2008 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers are Morgan Briant, Douglas Briant, Stephen Briant, Jimmy Bradley, Dennis Bradley and Brady Terry. Memorials may be made to the choice of the donor.
