Margie Mae Irwin Cagle, born March 15, 1929 in Gregory, Arkansas, left this life January 4, 2021 for her forever home with her Lord. Daughter of Walter and Rose Irwin, five brothers, Walter, Nathan, Jackie, Calvin, Billy, and three sisters, Nina, Florence & Ruth.
Margie and sister, Florence, went to work in Little Rock during summer break of 1945 and met her husband of 63 years, JW Cagle. They lived in Little Rock but eventually followed her family to Coquille, Oregon where they resided several years. Upon returning to Arkansas in 1955, Margie attended Little Rock Adult Education, taking business courses so she would have a better schedule to spend time with their only child, Diana Cagle Stockton.
After completing her classes, she worked in the insurance department for St. Vincent Hospital and eventually went to work for Drs. David Cheairs and Carl Wenger, until retirement.
The Cagles were charter members of Green Memorial Southern Baptist Church in Little Rock. She sang in the choir and was a youth sponsor. In addition to church, Margie was a 50+Year member of the Order of Eastern Star, joining Westwood Lodge in Little Rock and transferring to Gavel Lodge in 1965. They joined Orion Missionary Baptist Church in 1965.
In addition to her church, family & lodge, she loved to camp, fish and visit her brothers and sisters scattered from Florida to Alaska.
Margie was known for voicing her opinion, whether you asked or nor. She had very low tolerance for whining or complaining from Diana but when grandsons, Jason & Justin Stockton were born, she kicked into full grandmother mode and loved taking them to the beach, attending horse shows and all activities they participated in. By the time two granddaughters-in-law, Janet & Stacy, she was in full grandmother mode, anxious to start her great grandmother (GG) adventures.
Margie is survived by one daughter, Diana (Tommy) Stockton, grandsons, Jason (Janet) and Justin (Stacy) four great grands, Kristen, Emily, Abby, Kennedy and one great-great grand, Hadley, a brother Calvin Irwin (Jody) of Westport, WA, sisters-in-law Iva Irwin of Coquille, OR and Nancy Irwin of Lucy, Washington and many nieces and nephews.
Before moving to the Sheridan Healthcare & Rehab Facility, she lived at Crown Point - making many friends with residents and staff at both places.
