Mabel Roberts

Mabel Roberts age 88, longtime Pine Bluff resident, departed from her earthly life, peacefully on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at White Hall Nursing Home and Rehab in White Hall, where she lived her final couple of years. She is now at home with her Lord and Savior. Mrs. Roberts was born May 17, 1922, and was one of nine children born to the late J. E. Adams and Vinia Turner Adams. She loved to say that she was the middle child, four younger siblings and four older ones. Mrs. Roberts was a homemaker, worked for Jefferson Hospital, was a foster parent to many children, and attended the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Calvin McCullough and Doyle Roberts; seven siblings. Mabel will be remembered for her laughter, beautiful smile and her sense of humor.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by one sister, Martha Pointer of Pine Bluff; her dearest friend and loving companion, Olen Bearden of Pine Bluff; several nieces and nephews, and lots of bowling buddies.

Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Buie Funeral Home Chapel in Rison with Brother Bud Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
