It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our wife, mother,
grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend, Lynda Sue Warren (née
Syfert) on February 13, 2024. She left her body peacefully after courageously battling
Parkinson’s disease for several years.
Lynda had a full and joyous life beginning with her birth on October 9, 1941
to parents, Oscar and Sylvia Syfert (née Johnson), in Chicago, Illinois. When
she was six, her family moved to the Ozarks in northern Arkansas where she
was raised on a farm. Lynda was truly a farm girl and treasured memories of
her childhood, from milking cows to climbing trees with friends. She attended
school in Pleasant Grove and Batesville, then graduated from Arkansas Tech in
Russellville. While at Arkansas Tech, Lynda met the love of her life, Jim
Warren. She and Jim married in 1963. For a few years, Lynda shared her love
of community outside the home working as a teacher and in the banking
industry. However, when her first daughter (Suzan) was born, her real
passion, her love for her family and friends, took center stage. Lynda was
always available to care for and support them in whatever way needed. Lynda
gave birth to a second daughter (Amy), before moving to South
Carolina, where her son (Jim) was born. Lynda and her family moved
back to Arkansas, where she served her church, Hawley Memorial UMC, for many
years in a leadership position. Lynda kept busy as Treasurer for her church,
singing in the choir, serving families in need, all while enjoying cooking
meals for her own family and having everyone around the table for lively
visits. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, she created beautiful quilts,
and she loved challenging anyone to a game of cards. Above all, Lynda will be
remembered for her laugh, which she shared with enthusiasm.
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Oscar Dwain
Syfert. She is survived by her husband, James A. Warren, and children Suzan
E. Rand (Glen), Amy L. Fisher (Joe), and James C. Warren. Lynda was so proud
of and is survived by her grandchildren: Rebecca Beaver (D.B.), Kimberly
Rand, Colin Fisher, and Garrett Fisher. She is also survived by her sister,
Elaine McKinney (Jim), brother-in-law, Dale Warren (Biz), aunt Jean Syfert,
cousins Betty Vogel, Beverly Schnapp, Gene Syfert, and Tim Syfert and by many
nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Center Campground Cemetery.
