Luther Fred Dorsey, Jr

Luther Fred Dorsey Jr., age 67 of Rison, died, Wednesday, January 9, 2013 He was born October 28, 1945 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, a son of the late Luther Fred Dorsey Sr. and Geneva Earle Hairston Dorsey. Mr. Dorsey graduated from Hawthorne High School in Hawthorne, California, where he graduated with the Beach Boys. He was the fourth generation to attended Ouachita Baptist University, graduating in 1969. Mr. Dorsey was the owner and operator of Dorsey Painting and Sheetrock. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Warren. Mr. Dorsey was a member of the Hermitage Lions Club, was a Scout Master of troupe 65 in Warren, a member of Acorn Neighborhood organizer in Little Rock. He loved helping people, surfing, working and spending time with his family. Mr. Dorsey was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Grace Dorsey. Mr. Dorsey is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Earl Dorsey and Maureen of Arlington, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Michelle Dorsey Ruple and Shane of Jacksonville; sister, Elizabeth Ann Dorsey Castleberry of Walker, Louisiana; loving companion, Juanice Stewart of Rison and her family. Memorial services are 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Warren with Reverend Gary Maskell officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery.
